“Entire Series Made on iPad”

“Gold Coast local Steven Caldwell and creative partner Nathan Baldassero have achieved an independent filmmaking feat: co-creating the adult animated series Over the Hill in Clackerville entirely on a single iPad Pro.

The 10-episode comedy Caldwell described as the "love child" of South Park and Big Mouth focuses on middle-aged oddities pursuing unlikely dreams - such as the everyman hero Earl, whose IT store teeters on bankruptcy.

"It's a hopeless situation until he meets Mother Goose - a 65-year-old accountant turned adult star - who he instantly falls for," Caldwell said.

"However, forming a love bond with his dream gal will require a big change for this mild-mannered computer technician."

The show's streamlined production method - using only the LumaFusion and ProCreate apps - earned it a finalist spot in the prestigious SF3 Film Festival in Sydney.

Caldwell said Gold Coast scenes had been highly influential, as the creators completed one episode every four weeks around their full-time jobs.

"Eagle-eyed viewers will see a few backgrounds heavily inspired by some iconic Gold Coast locations."

in the "age of the entrepreneur", Caldwell said big studios wanted to see strong evidence of ability before investing in filmmakers.

A second season is already mapped.”
